Luke 3:16
John answered them all, saying, “I baptize you with water, but he who is mightier than I is coming, the strap of whose sandals I am not worthy to untie. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with FIRE.”

John prophesied that we would be baptized with the HOLY SPIRIT and with FIRE. Wouldn’t just the HOLY SPIRIT have been enough? Why do we need a baptism of FIRE after we have been baptized with the HOLY SPIRIT? Both are different things but they occur simultaneously. They are not separable. The baptism of the HOLY SPIRIT is accompanied with FIRE.

On the Pentecost the apostles received the HOLY SPIRIT with tongues of FIRE on their heads ( Acts 2:1-4) Why is that so and what is the significance of FIRE in the life of a believer who is baptized with the HOLY SPIRIT?

1: FIRE signifies the presence of God. In the old testament, the FIRE in the HOLY of HOLIES notifies everyone about the presence of God (Leviticus 6:12-13, Exodus 24:17) When agents of darkness look at a believer, they measure the level of your intimacy with God through the intensity of the FIRE of His presence in your life (1Samuel 3:3) If your FIRE is low, it means that the Lord is almost about to leave the temple just as in the days of Eli. This is because we are now the temples of God. So, the FIRE of His presence is no longer in temples made with human hands, but the temples He made by himself – our bodies.
2: The FIRE purifies us just as the word of God is purified by the FIRE seven times (Psalm 12:6)
Silver is refined with fire but a believer is refined with the furnace of affliction which is as fire to a silver. Every thing is purified by fire even the word of God. The Lord is coming for a church without spot; wrinkles or blemish hence, the purification by FIRE.
3: We are refined by the FIRE cause the word of God we proclaim is refined seven times (Malachi 3:2-3) That we may offer God services in righteousness.

4: We become a living sacrifice to God by the FIRE just as fire is used to burn sacrifices to God in the old testament (Romans 12:1-3) So, our services to God becomes a sweet smelling savor unto the Lord.
5: Fire is a symbol of protection (Zechariah 2:5)
6: We become a tool of judgment to the devil (Isaiah 66:15) Sodom and Gomorrah were judged with fire. So when the enemy sees you he sees fire, the emblem of his judgment. Satan is judged with fire.
7: We are cleansed and purged by the FIRE (Isaiah 6: 1-7)
8: The FIRE reveals every hidden thing; it tests and certifies our work for God (1Corinthians 3:13-15) Every work of man for God is tried with fire.
9: FIRE signifies the guiding presence of God (Exodus 13:22)
10: FIRE symbolizes holiness. So the Lord revealed himself to Moses through a burning bush and told him to remove his sandals for he was standing in a HOLY place.
11: FIRE draws attention. Only the bush burning with fire could draw Moses’ attention in the midst of noisy animals.

Now, the scripture says in Hebrews 1:7, “Of the angels he says, “He makes his angels winds, AND HIS MINISTERS A FLAME OF FIRE”.

Every minister of God is a flame of FIRE because we are custodians of God’s word. And the bible says that the word of God is FIRE (Jeremiah 23:29) And Jeremiah said that God’s word burns in him as FIRE (Jeremiah 20:9, Proverbs 6:27) Who can keep it?

This then means that, if God is a Consuming FIRE, then I am a consuming FIRE; if God is a Devouring FIRE, then I am a devouring FIRE for I am the son of my Father which is in heaven and He said we are gods.

No wonder Peter’s shadow was casting out demons of infirmity because his shadow carried a portion of FIRE which judged them unworthy to possess the individuals. Paul’s apron was a threat to the kingdom of darkness because it carried droplets of FIERY sweat which the demons could not stand. It says lay hands on the sick and they shall recover because by the contact, FIRE is ignited in the temple and the demons are restless and must leave.

Have you watched deliverance sessions where the demons in the person begin to shout FIRE! FIRE!! FIRE!!!… ? That’s what I am talking about. That’s who we are. The FIRE of God’s word, the FIRE of God’s presence judges them unworthy occupants of the bodies which are God’s temple and they become restless.

So when you see me, in any state I might be, I AM A FLAME OF FIRE!

Zechariah 2:5 says, “For I, saith the Lord, will be unto her a wall of FIRE round about, and will be the glory in the midst of her”.

I, as the mouth piece of God, have the FIERY presence of God round about me and His glory dwells in me in the person of the Holy Spirit for I am the temple of God.

God bless you.

I am carefully and wonderfully made.
