There has been a lot of arguments about the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ(whether it’s biblical or not)
There are also arguments about the date and the link between this celebration and pagan worship/celebration.
Though the above arguments exist, how do you think Jesus would have celebrated His birthday if He was alive?
To celebrate someone is to celebrate his personality; his nature; his attitude; his character; his beliefs; his do’s and don’t’s.
You celebrate what the individual is known for; you celebrate his companions, you celebrate the way he presents himself. Until you do things his ways, you have not celebrated him.
If the world is to celebrate Bob Marley, what do you think will happen? How do you think people will appear? Some will appear with weeds smoking, some with his country’s flag tied round their necks, some with dreadlock-caps because that’s how Bob Marley would appear and then they begin to dance his dancing steps to his songs. Similar things will happen if you celebrate Michael Jackson, etc.
Now come to the day they celebrate Jesus’ birthday:
1, Do you think Jesus would be found in the brothels having fun?
2, Do you think Jesus would carry a prostitute home on his birthday?
3, Do you think Jesus would be at the bar drinking alcohol and even drink to stupor just to celebrate His birthday?
4, Do you think He would only care about or visit the people around Him, His family and friends?
Some churches gather their members for retreats and begin to teach them the word of God.
But you would be surprised that you will go looking for Him in the church on His birthday only to be told that He has gone to preach the kingdom of God because He has to be about His Father’s business. That is who He is-a preacher, an evangelist. Most people don’t have time to evangelize the word of God due to the nature of their job. You have been preaching to them all these times, this day is for practical.
You would go looking for Him there only to be told that He was seen in a hospital praying for and healing the sick and paying the hospital bills of those who could not afford it.
You get to the hospital only to be told that He had gone to the prison to visit those who the society have abandoned. Those who their families regarded as outcasts and forgotten to rot away there without any one to show them love and affection.
You get to the prisons only to be told that He had gone to motherless babies home, the orphanage to give them gifts, food items, clothing and to share his time with them.
You get to the orphanage only to be told that He had gone to visit widows and foreigners in their despair with a message of hope.
That is the character of the one we are celebrating His birthday. Until you celebrate His birthday His own way, you are not His ambassador. And as His ambassador, we celebrate Jesus Christ every day.
God bless you.
